About JSC
Successfully deploying virtual reality applications is a difficult and complex task. We are here to assist you.
The Johnson Simulation Center provides services and products that impart real-world skills, information, and knowledge through immersive virtual reality and serious games. Since 2000, we have provided VR analysis, information, planning assistance, products, and training to public and private sector clients.
JSC assembles multidisciplinary teams based on the requirements of each assignment. We employ a director, two full-time programmers, two full-time artists, and a full time producer. Our programmers and staff work closely with clients to incorporate field data, moving beyond virtual to build detailed, realistic simulations.
We currently have two main classes of simulation products: immersive virtual reality and serious gaming. Projects include scenario and procedural training applications, military immersive simulations, and game development.
Fully immersive virtual reality simulation is most useful where learning the task in the real world is difficult, dangerous or expensive, and when it is important for the learner to feel as if he or she is inside the work environment. Our immersive simulations typically incorporate the movements and physical actions of the trainee/user into a 3-D computer model of a work environment through the use of a motion tracking system. The same tracker also allows display of the computer-generated environment so that the user can see and navigate in the virtual world in a useful way for training.
Serious games deliver educational content through use of compelling, interesting game environments. Like commercial games, they harness natural competitiveness and keep the interest of players - or, in this case, learners. Our game simulation engine allows the creation of relevant, realistic 3-D environments tailored to the learning task or tasks at hand.
In each simulation, the player faces challenges related to the game's topic. The games, which are timed, provide a clear set of assignments and objectives that correspond to the field of study, with enough unpredictability to keep things interesting. Mini-games inside each main game also provide variation and engage the players, encouraging them to keep playing.
